Depth Does Not Equal Healing: A Past Life Regression Insight

Past Life Regression hypnosis is often misunderstood as requiring a deep trance to be effective. In reality, healing through past life regression does not depend on how “deep” you go, but on the insight, emotional understanding, and integration that emerges. In this article, I share a personal past life regression experience that reshaped my understanding of karma, healing, and consciousness itself.

One of the biggest misconceptions I see around Past Life Regression is the belief that deeper hypnosis equals deeper healing.
It doesn’t.

Recently, I guided myself through a past life regression while my husband was driving. The car was moving. A podcast was playing. I could feel the road, hear the voices, and I was very aware of my physical surroundings. By traditional standards, I wasn’t “deep” at all.

And yet — what unfolded was one of the most meaningful past life insights I’ve ever experienced.

I found myself as a young girl in the late 1800s or early 1900s, a time before cars, when life felt simpler but emotionally no less complex. It was just me and my mother. In this lifetime, that same soul was my grandmother — the woman who raised me. In that past life, we were deeply bonded, inseparable.

As a teenager, around sixteen or seventeen, I ran away with a boy. I didn’t look back. I didn’t consider the impact of my choice. I left my mother devastated and heartbroken — and I never saw her again.

What struck me wasn’t the drama of the scene, but the clarity of the emotional truth. In this lifetime, I’ve carried a deep imprint of abandonment connected to that same soul. I’ve often felt confused about why that wound felt so strong, so specific.

In this regression, I realized something profound:
In this life, I experienced abandonment.
In that life, I was the one who abandoned.

That understanding reshaped how I personally define karma.

Karma, to me, isn’t punishment.
It’s balance.
It’s perspective.
It’s the soul experiencing both sides of an emotional truth so it can fully understand the impact of its choices.

And none of that insight required being “deep.”

Healing doesn’t come from how far gone you are from your body.
It comes from meaning, context, and integration.

This is why I don’t chase depth for depth’s sake in my work. Some of the most powerful regressions happen when the conscious mind is still present — observing, feeling, understanding. Awareness doesn’t block healing. Often, it enhances it.

If you’ve ever worried that you “won’t go deep enough” for past life regression to work, let this be reassurance:
Your soul doesn’t need you unconscious.
It needs you listening.

If you feel called to explore your own past life experiences, know that there is no right or wrong way for your journey to unfold. Your subconscious already knows what it’s ready to reveal.
